Gracious Friends Begins Raising Money for a New Shelter

The Gracious Friends Animal Shelter (GFAS), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based outside of Heuvelton, NY, has started to raise money to build an adoption center. The adoption center will be centrally located and house cats and dogs that are available for adoption and will be easily accessible to the public. GFAS, along with so many other shelters in the United States, needs to update their shelter to meet new regulations put forth by NYS Animal Protection Federation.

Recently, GFAS took part in the raffle of $100 worth of lottery tickets and a $50 cash prize to start raising funds. A drawing was held on July 30th in Rensselaer Falls, and a winner was drawn by Nick Calton, a community member not affiliated personally with the organization. The winner of the first lottery board, Denise LaFlair, donated it back to the building fund.

A new lottery board is being created and volunteers will be all over the North Country selling tickets through August to the drawing date of September 15th. Tickets are $1 each, and all money raised goes to the building fund.

If you or someone you know would like to volunteer or donate or adopt, please contact GFAS on Facebook or call (315) 766-7990.
